We are pleased to announce that Adelson Galleries and Christie’s will be joining forces to present a program of contemporary realist paintings on a global stage. In the spring of 2012, we will be working with Christie’s in their new private showrooms at Rockefeller Center to present an exhibition of works by Stephen Scott Young. The show will coincide with the publication of Once Upon an Island: Stephen Scott Young in the Bahamas, written by Dr. William H. Gerdts.
As these and other contemporary realist exhibitions by gallery artists tour to international Christie’s locations, Adelson Galleries will be relocating to a different Upper East Side space, better suited for private dealing and continued scholarship. Details about the new address will be forthcoming. As of December 5, the gallery will be open by appointment only.
Building upon Warren Adelson’s 40-year history of placing important works of art in major private collections and leading public institutions, Adelson Galleries will continue to act on behalf of its clients in handling fine American paintings. The gallery will also carry on its longstanding sponsorship of scholarly publications, including the John Singer Sargent and Mary Cassatt catalogue raisonné projects. John Singer Sargent: The Complete Paintings; Volume 7, Figures and Landscapes 1901-1907 will be published by Yale University Press in 2012.
